Patty finally watched Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill! She discusses that with Emily and also Shuffle Along, which closed. Two other shows announced closing this week, Motown and Fiddler. Patty and Emily also discuss castings, including Waitress and Come from Away, and the whitewashing of Prince of Egypt.

I’m playing catch up.
It still surprises and upsets me to remember that Shuffle Along has closed. I expected it to run for so much longer and of course I’m happy for the cast and all the opportunities they’ve been free to take advantage of in light of the premature closing but still… grrr.
I really only go to a matinee if I have a discounted ticket because (sometimes generalizations are accurate) it’s usually an older crowd that reacts to a play like a panto audience, gasping and talking.
